Hangin' out fun

Poway had a street fair so we headed down to people watch, enjoy food and shaved ice,...

and pony rides!  The kids love this!  Remember when Tatum wouldn't even get near a horse?!

And Ty loves it! 

Back at the school auction, Tatum bought bowling time with her kindergarten teacher Mrs. Kirchmeier.  And the day has arrived!  Here she is, ready to bowl with her teacher.

I forgot my camera of course and tried to catch a shot of Mrs. Kirchmeier's bowling team.  It's Trevor, Tatum, Kaitlin, Tyler D, Sophie and Grace.

And later that weekend we went up to meet Shauna at the Carlsbad street fair.  Oh the fun!

After the fair, Garrett headed back to Shauna's with the kids while we stopped at a wine bar for some tastes.  Great day with wonderful friends and family. :)

Some Ty time

It's hard to come by one on one time with each kid.  I complain and I only have two kids, I'm sure it gets harder and harder the more you have.  And one on one time is so important because it's amazing how different the kids are when they have me or us to themselves.  There's no pressure of having someone step in and steal your limelight.  No one to interrupt you or steer the activity or outing towards what they want to do.  Ugh, so stressful!  I never knew this life since I was an only child and now having two children, I can see how exhausting siblings can be!  So on that note, Tatum had a birthday to go to so we dropped her off and headed to the mall, just Daddy, Ty and I.  First things first, a train ride!

And when you have one kid, it's half the cost!  After this he played in the play area and then went on a coin operated car.  Oh the fun!  We had Hot Dog on a Stick and then called it a night.  Whoo!

And again, while Tatum was busy at school, Grandma, Ty and I got some more quality time on our last visit to the Safari Park.  I thought our Zoo passes ended in March but surprise, we had another month!  So we squeezed one more visit in before they were done.  Here's a California Eagle. (I think)

There was a baby elephant, born just a few weeks before.  So cute and so little!

Ty loves the drums.  We had to stay here so he could play each one.  A wonderful last day at the Safari park!

Ty's Hop a thon!

At North City Preschool, every year they have a hop a thon, where the kids hop through an obstacle course and earn money for the school.  It's also a chance for me to see Ty play and interact with his friends.  These boys are so cute.  The "Bros". :)  And Mrs. Friesen says this is a common occurrence between them.  Blaine steering the bike, Ty riding on the back, and Colin, the work horse, pushing them around the track.  She said she's asked if Colin wanted a ride or if they'd want to switch their positions, and they all say, "Nope, this is how we do it."  Too funny.

Braden and Harman are also in their class and also good friends with the "Bros". :)

 

And now it's Hop a thon time!  Ms. Karen gives them the rules before entering the obstacle course.

And here's the class waiting patiently for their turn to jump. 

They all wore necklaces with bouncing or hopping animals and this class was the Kangaroo bunch.

Here goes Blaine!

And Ty was next!  He was so excited and couldn't wait to get jumping.  He started off well and then got a little too exited and rounded this corner too fast.  He tripped and hit his head on the pavement, poor boy, and got a little bump.  He tried not to cry in front of everyone and they got him an ice pack for his head, but he said he couldn't continue jumping.

So I stepped in as a pinch jumper and jumped for him. :)

 

I think this helped Ty feel a bit better because in no time flat, he was out there telling my how to jump and then...

showing me, in true Ty fashion.  Obviously his head didn't hurt too much, I think it was more his ego.  Anyway, he helped me hop through the rest of the course and completed the hop a thon!

Hurrah hop a thon and hurrah North City Preschool!  Ty raised lots of money for his school and won $25 to Toys R Us from the school drawing! 

Earth Day and Birthday

Earth Day is here!  Our friends Keira, Tyler and Kelly came over to celebrate Earth Day with us but enjoying a flower pot full of chocolate pudding, crushed oreos and gummy worms.  Yum!

Keira and Ty both layered the goodies into their pot and then put it in the fridge to enjoy later.

 Then we headed outside for some planting.  Here's my gardening boy.

And my watering girl. :)

They both put dirt in the pots, picked the flowers and planted. 

And lots of watering of course.

These two are too cute. 

Happy Earth Day!!

Then it was time to celebrate Shauna's birthday!  She came over after work to enjoy a meatloaf dinner (one of her favorites) and a homemade ice cream cake!

Some good ol' fashion fun

Our neighbor Cookie has three granddaughters that live in Coronado.  Sometimes one of them will come visit their grandma and when they do, we hope to have some play time.  The other day Eliza came to visit and the three kids enjoyed some play time and popsicle time together. :)

Mattie and Jenny came down for a slumber party and we took the girls to a paint your pottery place.  They both picked unicorns and had a great time!

A random trip to Bernardo winery for live music and to burn off some energy. :)

as well as a picture with Grandma!

Oh these goof balls.  It's definitely a love hate relationship.  One minute they're fighting over something or someone is kicking the other, and then the next minute  I had Tatum get something for Ty and him say, "Thanks sissy, love you."  Aww, too cute.

We decided that the field at the winery is a bit small for kites, especially the cheap, plastic ones I bought.  Next time we'll bring a ball and save the kites for the beach. 

But a wonderfully fun afternoon outing!

Tatum's class artwork was up on the walls of the Multipurpose room.  That's her camel at the top of the picture.  She's really starting to enjoy art and is getting pretty good.  Thanks so Arts Attack, a volunteer program where a mom comes into class and does an art project with the class twice a month.  So wonderful!
