Camping at William Heise Campground

Camping again!  We love it and now that we've done it a few times, we 're getting the hang of it.  This time our friend Joy and family invited us to join their friends.  She's part of a group of mothers that have been getting together once a month since her first son was born, 9 years ago!  They were so nice to let us join the fun and fun we had!  We got there later on Friday so after setting up camp and having dinner, we stuck around our camp site and enjoyed baked bananas and crazy light swords. :)

And lots of smiles...

and kisses...

Yum, baked bananas stuffed with chocolate chips, toffee, marshmallows, etc, the best!

The next day, after we had a group breakfast, we all got ready for a fun hike.  Here's the group of kids. (minus Ty since he wouldn't cooperate for the photo)

And here's Joy's daughter Sarah, Tatum's dear friend she met her first year of preschool.  Love these two.

Let's check the map!

"Hehehe, I talked Daddy into carrying me!" is what his smile says. :)

The woods were beautiful on the hike, so green!

Garrett educating the kids on the meaning behind rings on a tree trunk.  Smart Daddy!

Here's Sarah with her dad Paul, our hiking partners.
Great shot!

Always need a stick on a hike to keep the bears away! :)

Ty did pretty well on the hike, only asking to be held a few times.  I think we have some hiking in our future!

We made it to the base and Ty did a great job taking these shots of Garrett and I.

And all the kids enjoyed some Popsicles to help cool them down.

Then out came Ladder Golf and the kids loved it!

Girl power!

Ty was a bit too young to join in the fun but at one point, towards the end of their game, they let Ty come out and give it a shot.  When no one was looking he put it up on the top bar and then turned to see if anyone caught him cheating, love this guilty face.  "Hmmmmm, anyone catch that?"

After a group potluck dinner, we all enjoyed a camp fire and smores, our favorite part of camping!

What a fun family weekend.  Let's do it again!

One of the kids caught this beetle, Ty loved it.  And then all the kids and parents headed over to a nearby field where astronomers had set up some huge telescopes to see the stars and Saturn!  Ty and I headed back to the tent and he was out in minutes, a fun but tiring day.
