My new friend Pinterest

A few months ago I was over at a friends house, I think we were scrap booking. Anyway, she told me about this web site she just got on, Pinterest. I had heard about it and had actually asked to be invited to the web site, since you have to be INVITED (so posh!) but I hadn't set up my account or anything. Well, she helped me navigate through the site and taught me how to use it and I thought, hmmm, I'll check it out and see but it's probably not really for me. Well, I believe that my life has actually been changed for the better due to my new friend Pinterest. It's no secret and no doubt, I've always been a follower, not a leader, and very happy with that. But as a follower, it's hard to come up with new and creative activities, crafts, experiences, etc. for you and now for a family. But Pinterest is a great leader and I find wonderful ideas to copy and follow and it's brought out a creative side in me that I had no idea I had. Here are just a few of the fun things we've done around here thanks to Pinterest. For starters, glow sticks in the bath...

which we took out, dried off and made faces on the floor. Here's Ty's face...

and Tatum's face.

The endless fun of glow sticks at night, genius!

Here's food coloring dyed shaving cream. Can you see the joy this brought to my kids?!

Painting waffles with food coloring mixed with milk, they loved it!

They each had to eat two!

This Easter puzzle that I cut apart and put each piece in an egg that then I hid around the house. The kids love scavenger hunts so this was great! And they reviewed the different symbols of Easter.

Tissue paper crosses, so pretty when the sun comes in.

Foam egg garland with hand print chicks, so fun!

Thumb print pictures. Tatum and I did this during Ty's nap. Thumbs and fingers colored with ink would not be a good activity for Ty. :)

Ice cream cone for breakfast! No, it's just a waffle with PB cut into the shape of a cone, with yogurt and bananas as the ice cream. Again, I think they wanted seconds. Love it! And these are just the kid projects, I've stitched a picture, I'm sewing, I've decorated a few areas of my house, and I'm actually cooking! So fun! Who knew that a little direction in my life would lead to so much creativity and joy!! Love you Pinterest!

St Patrick's Day!!

St. Patrick's Day, one of my favorite holidays. Well, I guess that's due to my Irish heritage but also because I wear a four leaf clover tattoo on my backside. :) Either way, we don't have many Irish traditions for this day so this year we had a scavenger hunt. I printed out a few pictures of places around the house and each child followed their own hunt.

Ty and Tatum both LOVE scavenger hunts, if only I could invent a scavenger hunt game with picture cards instead of words. Anyway, here's Ty finding a clue in the bathroom...

and here's Tatum finding her pot o' gold!

I hate giving the kids too much candy but the great thing about this age is that they have a few bites when they first get it, it goes up in the cupboard and they completely forget about it and it goes in the trash a week later. And everyone is happy! :)

Then it was adult time at Stone Brewing Company with Leanne, Todd, Mom and the Beaston's. Such a fun night! And Mom brought some green food coloring so we could all have some festively green drinks!

From the kids view

Two years ago for Christmas, Tatum got one of those kid cameras. It came with a usb cord and I think I downloaded a few photos the first time she used it. But I ran into the usb cord again the other day and realized there were probably a few photos on the camera since I'd never downloaded photos again so I sat down to check it out. 637 photos later I realized I should have been downloading photos regularly. Anyway, after a long time of actually looking at every photo and deleting many out of focus carpet shots, here's the best of the rest.

Dee and Bo Bo, view important friends of Ty's. Wow, lots of pictures! But lots of important stuff and view points of the kids. I've erased the camera and we're starting over. Maybe I won't wait so long this time and maybe we'll let the kids take the camera out to fun places and see if we can get some more fun shots from them. It's interesting to see what the world is like from a smaller perspective. :)
