Mommy monthly Sip and Chat

A few of us mommy's get together once a month for a "Sip and Chat", or some time to get the kids together and time for us mommy's to catch up.  This time we met up at Leslie's beautiful home where the kids enjoyed lunch and then got in their suits and had some water fun.

Here's our youngest member, Rhys!  I think he was 3 1/2 months here, such a cutie!

Enjoying some ice cream after some water fun!  The little kids, Colin, Ty, Anderson, Tatum, Addi and Peyton.

The big kids, Trevor, Andrew, Ali and Cole.

I love this messy face!  What a fun day with friends!

Concert at Poway Lake

One of my favorite things about summer are the free concerts in the park.  I love them!  I'm not sure what I love most though, the wide open space so the kids can be loud and play, the picnic appetizers and wine in a water bottle, the crowd, or the music.  All of it means summer!

We were at Lake Poway on a hill so the kids enjoyed rolling down, cute.

And then some kids came by passing out Sharp health care things like bubbles and sunscreen packets.  Bubbles definitely mean summer too!  Ty's getting pretty good at blowing bubbles.

And Tatum's a pro. :)

We enjoyed a picnic dinner of sub sandwiches, pasta salad, cheese and crackers, and yummy fruit.

And the kids were so cute together.  Here they are playing baby, and you can see who gets to be mommy and who gets to be baby, always. :)

Ty loves music and it was a Beatle's cover band.  The kids thought there were going to be scary beetles up on stage. :)  But when Ty heard the music, he instantly started stomping his foot and playing air guitar, his favorite.  He's always up for dancing, or has in the past, so Grandma asked him to go closer to the band and the dance floor.

I don't know if it's age or what but Ty has become quite "shy" in the last few months.  So after walking down to see the band and all the people dancing,...

he said, "Let's go back and find Mommy, Grandma."  Of course, I wasn't far behind, taking pictures, but he would have nothing to do with dancing this time.

The band was all dressed up and did an awesome job, we loved all the songs.

I tried to get my buddy to dance with me but it wasn't happening.  The only thing we didn't care for regarding the concert at Poway Lake, was the shuttle situation.  There's just not enough parking to accommodate all the guests so Garrett had to drop us off with all our gear and then park blocks away at the high school and take a shuttle in.  Then he and Ty left before the concert was over to grab a shuttle back but already there was a line of over 40 and they had to wait for quite awhile to hitch a ride back.  Either we get to the lake earlier next time or stick with the concerts at Old Poway Park instead.

New home for our favorite Godmother

Shauna moved to Carlsbad and her home is a block from the beach, amazing!  We went to visit and then walked down to a festival they were having.  Here's a Zumba class on the beach!

Oh how Ty loves his Shauna!

It was kind of cloudy that day but we walked all along the boardwalk, enjoying all the different sites and sounds, especially the band!

And the sand castle makers.  It always amazes me how they can carve sand into anything they want.  This was a sign for the festival and you can see the guitar and notes at the top.  A fun day out at the beach without getting sandy! :)

A princess tea party with Kaitlin

One of Tatum's close friends from preschool had a princess tea party for her birthday and Tatum LOVED it!

Especially because Sleeping Beauty attended as well!  She painted the girls faces...

I think she chose a fish and a horse?  Not sure but it could have been anything and Tatum would have been happy, she loved it!

They played games...

and Tatum had her turn in the middle.

And there's the birthday girl in the middle and all her princess friends.

Sleeping Beauty even sang a few songs!

This face says it all, she loved it!

And the party ended with some bounce house fun.  What a great day!

Drive in movie to see Brave

The new Brave movie came out and Tatum had been talking about wanting to go for months!  We'd also talked about and had on our summer fun list, to go to a drive in movie.  So we put the two together and we packed up the car after dinner and headed to the Santee Drive in.  It's been years since I've been to a drive in so I kind of forgot what it's like.  You pay per person and then you're in for the night.  We got there as soon as it opened at 7:30 so we could get a good spot.  Look at the kids faces, they loved sitting in the back of the truck!

And they also loved the candy!  We stopped at CVS to get some yummies before hitting the show.

And here's the big screen!  The movie didn't start till almost 9 since we had to wait for it to get dark enough to see the show.

So we passed the time people watching.  There was a large group of young girls next to us, maybe a birthday or something.  Tatum and Ty loved watching them play with bubbles.  There was also a few small kids on the other side of us and Tatum and Ty enjoyed play hide and seek and Simon says with them. :)

Look at the crowd!  This picture doesn't do it justice but the parking lot was packed!  And since you get to stay all night, many people were in their pjs with chairs pitched and pizza slices being passed.  I didn't really understand why grown people were in pjs but I guess since you pay to get in, you plan to see both movies, which in this case was Brave and Avengers, which meant you were watching till well after midnight!  We drove out after Brave, which was late enough, 10:30!

The parents. :)  I don't know as we'll go back to the drive in this summer, it was a late night for our youngin's.  But we all had fun and we crossed another fun summer activity off our list!

Play date with a special friend

This is Andrew from Tatum's preschool class, I posted a picture of these two at the family pizza night.  Tatum asked if Andrew could come over to play the other day.  Luckily, he was available so his dad dropped him off for 2 hours before his mom came to pick him up.  The two played on the swings in the back yard, enjoyed all the toys in Tatum and Ty's room, and then stopped to enjoy a homemade Popsicle together in the backyard.  So cute!  Andrew is a sweet boy and Tatum is so smitten with him.  Sadly, he won't be attending the same school as Tatum so I'm sure this friendship won't last long.  But there's some summer left so we plan on getting in a few more play dates while we can.  These two are just too cute together! :)

Father's Day!

Father's Day arrived and we were so excited to get Daddy up and give him his presents!

We took these pictures in Grandma's backyard...

and then put them on a water bottle that we made and ordered through Target, so cute!  We also got him some new shirts and an apron we made!

Garrett wanted to take the boat out to Lake Hodges, a lake not far from our house.  The kids were suited up in their vests and anxious to go!  Garrett backs the truck down and jumps in the boat and backs it out, then I drive the car and trailer up to the parking area and walk back.  This time the parking area was quite a distance from the launch area, so Garrett said he'd get the boat going and swing around toward the parking area to pick me up.  I waited down at the dock area for quite awhile and they never came around the bend.  I finally figured something was wrong so I ran back and yep, the motor was flooded and not working so we had to use the trolling motor all day, slow going.

Our excellent boat driver.  Even though we only had the trolling motor, Garrett made it work and we got out to a nice place to fish.  He also wore the tshirt we made him for Father's Day last year. :)

Garrett is also the pole preparer since I'm not too schooled in how to bait the hook.  But the kids patiently wait their turn and then love holding the rod and watching the bobber.  Shortly after this photo, Tatum dropped her pole in the water, whoops!  Luckily the bobber was visable so Garrett hooked her line and saved the pole.

In the lower section of this picture, you can see the depth finder.  Garrett had it running back at the house and was excited to use it this trip but when we got out there, it wasn't working either.  Broken motor, broken depth finder, Garrett says we need a new boat. :)

This face says, "Don't mess with me while I'm fishing!"  Such a serious fisherman. :)

He thought he caught something, just some brush.

But how fitting that Garrett caught the only fish we got that day!

Happy Father's Day!

The kids enjoyed touching the fish before Garrett threw him back in.

But Ty really loved the bait fish we had in the live well.

These two are too cute!

After a full day of fun, we headed back to the house where Grandma came over with Lobster tail for the important man of the day.  We also had creamed corn and yummy salad, and the cook wore his new apron.  All in all, a wonderful Father's Day together.
