The kids

I can't believe we just had our 5 year wedding anniversary! It feels like we were reciting our vows in front of all our friends and family just yesterday. I can still remember the butterflies in my stomach and how handsome Garrett looked standing next to the priest, waiting for me. Wow, how time flies. And now here we are, two kids and 5 years later and I love him even more. Of course we're older yet wiser right? :) Life has definitely changed over the past 5 years but only for the better. We're just so blessed.

And on that note, back to the kids. The highlight of last weekend was Mattie's birthday party. We got to see so many friends, enjoy delicious food and snacks, and have fun at a park and in a bounce house!

Here's Tatum with Emma and Mattie bouncing away.

And then on to a very large piece of cake, yum! This is always Tatum's favorite part. We had to go look at the cake early on in the party because she was so excited.

And here are our two adorable kids. It's funny how different their personalities are, without us steering them in one direction or another. And you can see that in these two photos. Ty is so laid back, smiling and laughing all the time. He absolutely loves his sister and follows her everywhere. But he's very boyish, always throwing things, putting things in his mouth, splashing in the dog water, anything he's not suppose to be doing. When I tell him no, he stops, sits back and looks at me, smiles, and goes in for more. A little stinker. :) And Tatum, she's all girl. As you can see from this photo, she wants to spend her whole life in one frilly dress or another, playing with dolls, school, mother, taking care of everyone and "teaching" everyone how to do everything. Her bossiness is getting a tad out of hand these days but it does come in handy with Ty. If I have my back turned and he's off to do something "wrong", she's right there to yell and let me know. It's nice to have two mommies watching him. :)

And here are some pics I took of the kids in my mom's backyard. We had fun playing around and both kids were very cooperative. This rocking chair is my Grandmothers, from the early 1900's. We have a picture of her and her two siblings sitting in it out at their farm. And now I have a picture of both our children in the same chair. The photos span over a century, crazy.

Another garage sale in Irvine

We headed up to Irvine for our second garage sale of the month. I didn't get a picture of Tatum's Treats table but both Tatum and Mattie manned the booth. Very little was sold though, we had much better luck in Poway. But here's Ty showing off the merchandise. :)

The girls did their part to help out the sale as well. Doesn't anyone want to buy doll clothes? :)

And what's better after a hard day's work than a yummy Popsicle. Great job girls! We're starting a whole new generation of garage salers. :) That evening we enjoyed a BBQ at the Jazayeri's house but I was obviously pooped because I never even got the camera out. Too busy drinking wine and chatting. Mommy's need a break too! :)

Cinco d Mayo

For some reason, I put in my pictures backwards, so we'll be seeing Cinco de Mayo activities backwards as well. :) The day ended with a fun neighborhood party. Leslie and Matt had everyone over for a potluck Cinco de Mayo celebration. Here's Leslie's son Anderson with Ty. Anderson loves babies and he's so sweet, such a good 2 year old.

And here is Tatum and Ty with Leslie's oldest daughter Ashley, and another neighborhood girl, Olivia. She was awesome with Ty, playing with him and carrying him around. It gave me more time to enjoy the margaritas. :)

Here are more of the kids enjoying their quesadillas and fruit outside. Such a good bunch. Let me just mention that Tatum absolutely loves being around all these kids and had a wonderful time, especially with the older ones.

Matt got out a toy he got at Christmas that drops Mentos into a coke bottle and makes a geyser. The kids loved it, so much that he did it twice!

Here's a pretty picture one of the neighbors took with her huge, professional camera. Love the clarity! Maybe I need to get one of these!

And here are all the kids in one group. Wow, lots of kids! We are just so lucky to have moved into such a wonderful neighborhood filled with awesome, friendly people and lots of kids to enjoy.

Ok, Ty will probably kill me when he's older for this photo but I couldn't resist. First, you need the back story. I was changing him on the changing pad that I had removed the cover from so it was just the plastic. Suddenly I hear this weird noise. I realize it's Ty's pee squirting over him and hitting the plastic pad right beside his head. As soon as I realize and try to cover it, he cracks up. Obviously the pee antics start early and are hilarious from the beginning. Anyway, I wasn't laughing then but I was when I sat him up and the back of his head was soaked in pee! It looked like he'd been in the bath, it was so wet! Anyway, you can see the back of his head in the photo, that would be why he looks wet before even getting in the bath. Also, I had to take this picture because he absolutely loves the bath and can't wait to get in. He'll pull himself up there and ask to go in with lots of grunts and gestures with his feet (like he's going to step over the side). His butt is just so funny in this photo. Who knew men could have saddle bags! :)

Cinco de Mayo started with a fun trip to the UPick Strawberry fields. Mandy, her sister Kate and Ellie invited us to join them and we had the best time!

Next time Ty can actually enjoy the event. But you can see we brought Strawberry Shortcake with us to enjoy the fields. And did a lot of tasting.

Here's Mandy and Kate enjoying some of the juiciest strawberries I've ever had.

Can you tell they absolutely loved it?! We'll definitely be making this a tradition!

And we're ending with a picture of Ty with spaghetti. He loves food he can pick up and he really loves spaghetti. I love that he loves the food he can pick up because it sure is easier to manage, even though there's extensive clean up. :)

Garage sale fun

This past weekend we had another garage sale at our house which proved to be very beneficial. Not only were we able to sell most of our stuff and clean out our garage, Tatum made quite a bit of cash selling her treats. What a wonderful sales lady she was. She's planning on setting up a table at Grandma's garage sale this Saturday too!

After the garage sale, we did some playing and goofing around the house. Here's Ty riding a pony named Tatum. Ty is in love with Tatum's hair and anytime he can get his fingers in it and pull, he's up for it. :)

After dinner we had a dress up party in Tatum's room, so much fun. Of course there aren't too many dress up items that boys could wear but that certainly didn't bother Ty. :)

Daddy wasn't happy about this outfit...

or this one. Maybe we need to invest in some cowboy outfits or something. :)
