Crazy hair and wild days

At the end of April, it was Crazy Hair Day at Ty's preschool and he was ready for the day!  Here's Ty with Ms. Cullison, they both opted for pink tips! :)
Isaac and Leanne came down one random weekend and Lee and I took the boys to Inflatable World.  Ty LOVES this big slide and Isaac was happy to watch. :)

They had a blast together and found lots of bounce houses that they enjoyed.

A guy passed out these balloons for the kids to play with.  Crazy time!

And here's a picture of Garrett and I in front of the Bernardo Winery sign, one of my favorite places.  Ty did a pretty good job taking this picture!

We bought a humming bird feeder and followed a recipe to make yummy humming bird juice.  So many birds enjoyed our feeder and here's one of the bring and pretty ones!  We got out Tatum's bird book and thought it was a Oriel but not sure.  But we saw Mocking Birds, humming birds and lots of sparrows.  We'll need to make more humming bird food again soon!

Easter!!

Easter morning!  Even though Ty and Tatum love to sleep in, they were up bright and early on Easter morning and couldn't want to look out the back door to see what the Easter Bunny left on the chairs.  I asked them to wait since we wanted Daddy to get up and Easter or not, Garrett's NOT a morning person. :)  But when it was time to go out, they were so excited!

Each one got a basket with lots of little goodies in it, so exciting!

Then it was time to find all the eggs the Easter bunny had left.

After the eggs were found, chocolate was eaten and toys were opened, we made Resurrection rolls.  This is where you put a marshmallow in the middle of a crescent roll and after they're cooked, it's empty, like the tomb!  The kids enjoyed this and enjoyed listening to the verse in the bible, but didn't care too much for the rolls.  This was the first Easter that Grandma wasn't around, so we had a lazy day or playing around the house, went to see Rio 2 and then had dinner at Red Lobster where Ty realized his deep LOVE with crab. :)

Neighborhood Easter egg hunt with the Jazayeri's

The Jazayeri's came down for a night and we headed to Poway Community Park where the Living Way church puts on a huge Easter egg hunt for all ages.  We've been coming for the past 3 years and the kids really look forward to it.

The hunts go by age so the boys got to go first.  Here they are, ready to run!

It was a bit hot out there so I wished I'd brought my hat. :)

And they're off!  We talked strategy and told the kids to run straight for the center since everyone else would stop at the eggs closest to the ropes.  Ty definitely listened!

Look at all their eggs!

The church also has lots of bounce houses set up that the kids enjoyed...

And then it was the girls turn!

Look at them plotting away. :)

And there they go!

They also decided to run for the middle.  Tatum was so into the moment that she kept picking up eggs and tossing them into her basket but not realizing that they were going completely over the basket and onto the ground!  She did this numerous times!

But obviously the girls got lots of eggs as well!

After some lunch, we headed to Torry Pines for a hike.  We checked out the nature center to find out what kind of animals we might find on our trail.

What a fun group!

These kids did a great job hiking and staying on the path.

And what a great opportunity for a Christmas card photo! :)

Nothing like hiking in your skirt but she rocked it.

And this one was prepared with his hiking vest and everything!

A sweet Daddy moment

And we made it to the end and these two monkeys crawled up on the railing for a better view.  BFFS!!!

After we said good bye to the Jazayeri's, we hung out on the beach and let the kids cool off and play.  What a wonderful weekend!

Beer and education

On Saturday, April 12, we signed Tatum up for a fun camp through Poway Rec center.  We dropper her off with dinner at the community center at 4:30 and were to pick her up at 9.  All for $3!  She was a bit hesitant at first since she wasn't going with anyone, but when we picked her up, she said she loved it!  They played games outside, a zoo lady came with animals, they had dinner, played more games and when I picked her up, they were making lots of crafts.  Well worth the money.  But Ty was too young to go and my mom couldn't watch him at the last minute, so we took him to Stone Brewery to meet up with Toni and Shauna.  We never get to see Toni so this was such a treat!

The next day, we met the Arce's at the Natural History Museum for some education.

There's a Ms. Frizzle show there and the kids loved it!  Ms. Frizzle did a wonderful job teaching them about bugs, recycling...

and even got Ty in the show!

Here's the gang.  Keira is fire, Tatum is a carrot, Ty is a tree and Tyler is just big man Tyler. :)

After the show, we checked out all the exhibits.  Ty and Keira made energy together!

Look at these scary pirates!!  They had a pirate exhibit that cost extra so we said forget it and headed to Station Tavern in South Park.  It was this cool bar with outdoor picnic tables and a fenced in play area for the kids.  Genius!

Strawberry fields

On our drive home from Irvine, we stop at the U Pick strawberry fields in Carlsbad.  Delicious!

We paid $10 for a large cup that we filled but I think we ate more than we put in the cup!  They were so sweet and juicy!  I kept laughing at Ty because all you could hear from him was, "Mmmmmmm, so juicy!".

Look at this sweet, strawberry face!

The kids absolutely loved picking strawberries.  After we filled the cup, I put it in the car and they headed out again, just to eat more off the bush.

Another sweet strawberry face.  Lots of fun!
