Our over due visit with Aunt Diane

Aunt Diane finally took a plane ride out to see us and we were all soooooo excited! She doesn't fly much anymore and the last time she was out here was for our wedding 6 years ago. The kids were so excited and as soon as she got here, we got to work showing her and taking her to all our favorite spots. Fun at the Lake Poway play park,...

feeding the ducks,...

and stamping fun. She said before she came out that she just wanted to enjoy the kids and see them doing their normal, daily activities. And that's what we did. :)

During her visit, Tatum had her last day of preschool and said good bye to her first teach, Miss. Lawson. Tatum already misses her and keeps saying that she'll have Miss. Lawson again next year. But I'm sure it won't take long for her to adjust to her new teacher.

Here's Tatum showing Aunt Diane how well she can ride her big girl bike!

And then it was birthday time! But who's birthday is in June? Oh, no one. Aunt Diane isn't out here for any birthdays normally so she decided to throw all of us a birthday party! The kids loved it and were completely surprised!

Everybody got presents, even Mommy and Daddy. So much fun, why can't we have a birthday everyday?!

The kids each got their own cakes. Ty was so proud of his.

And Tatum's had Tangled on it, she was so excited!

Look at these faces, they were so excited when they walked out and saw all the decorations and balloons! Oh the fun!

We were able to get away for a little adult time and took Aunt Diane downtown to Croce's, a delicious restaurant and jazz bar. Lots of fun.

We also took her to see Hotel Del on Coronado and the girls posed in our favorite big chairs. I've been posing in these chairs since I was little so it's a tradition we have to do every time we visit.

On the beach in front of the hotel.

Some Tatum and Daddy time.

Aunt Diane enjoyed the beauty of the hotel and loved the shops as well.

On Aunt Diane's last day, we took her to our favorite winery down the street, Bernardo Winery.

Shauna joined us which is always fun.

And everyone enjoyed the jazz music and the wine.

They have some old beautiful stuff to look at there, Ty loves this tractor.

It's great that they have this large, open field where lots of people bring their kids, blankets, appetizers, kites, bubbles, etc. and enjoy wine and the jazz music that's playing on the other side of the building while the kids play.

We all had a wonderful time with Aunt Diane and really wish she'll brave another flight out to see us soon. Love you Aunt Diane!!

Farewell to Tatum's first year of Preschool

It feels like yesterday that Garrett, Ty and I took Tatum over to North City Preschool for her first day of class in room #5 with Miss. Lawson. How can it be that the year is over?! She has loved every minute of it and has made many wonderful friends. The school put on a pizza night so we packed up our lawn chairs and headed over for a fun dinner outdoors with our friends.
Ty loved the food of course, but more so the picnic. :)
The kids put on a show for us where they sang one of their favorite songs, Penny in my Pocket. So cute and they all loved getting up on stage.
You can see Ty's head here in the bottom left corner. He was in awe. You can tell he loves music and any kind of show. I think he would have loved it more had he been involved. :)
My baby girl is growing up too fast.
But she'll always be daddy's baby. :)
Here are a few of her friends from class. From left, Kelsey, Sarah and Kaitlin.
Elli and Janelle jumped in for a picture with Mrs. Freezen. (she got married a few weeks ago)
Ty loved being outside but loved the brownies even more. :)
On the last day of class, the school put on a Fun Fair where they had lots of fun activities and acted just plain silly. ;)
There was a car wash...
with different colored soap...

parachute fun...
and duck, duck, goose...
tee ball...
stilts...
crossing over a firey dinosaur world...
and Tatum's favorite, dress up! She has grown so much in this one year. She loves to play with others, enjoys make believe and dress up, is growing to enjoy art more, and has really learned how to be a great friend. I can't wait to see what she learns next year.

Memorial Day weekend craziness

Memorial Day weekend fun!!!

Memorial Day weekend always means summer is almost in my grasp. It's so close I can taste it and I love it! I LOVE summer, everything about it. The smells, the warmth, the long days. And the laziness of it all. Well, things don't seem so lazy on the mom's side but I remember it meaning laziness when I was a kid. :) Anyway, we had a fun, full weekend for the holiday. Grandma came down after her recent trip to Hawaii and brought some wonderful presents. I didn't get a picture of Tatum in her coconuts and grass skirt (which she loves) but here she is doing a fish painting with colored sand, really cool. She's getting more and more interested in art projects which is nice since her brother could color, paint, draw and be artistic all day.

Leanne came down for the weekend and we enjoyed a night out in Del Mar. It started with some amazing appetizers, dinner and drinks at the Poseidon, delicious. Then we headed to the Belly Up for a Sublime cover band. I guess we're pretty old because we figured the band would come on at 10. A band came on at 10, after the opening band, but it didn't sound at all what we were hoping for. Soon, after about a half hour and thoughts of leaving, we realized that this band was just another opening band. The real band started at 11! Since when do they have two opening bands and start shows at 11?! Anyway, since we had a lot of down time, we decided we needed to take a lot of pictures of ourselves...

On Sunday, my neighborhood put on their annual Memorial Day block party and everyone showed up! We had lots of food, delicious BBQ, and a large rolling bar with lots of tasty margaritas. Everyone was enjoying themselves.

The most wonderful thing about the block party is there are tons of kids, all ages so our children are guaranteed to be entertained by someone else. I don't think I did much for my kids the whole time since they were instantly whisked away to play with others. Here's Olivia, a neighbor girl who just recently hit the baby sitting age. She is wonderful with the kids and we can't wait to have her do some baby sitting this summer. This is Collin from down the street, Ty's BF. :)

Our fun and wonderful neighbors!

The ice cream lady came and the kids went wild!

I love my Lee and Jenny time!

Boys being boys. :)

We were so excited that the Jazayeri's made it down to enjoy the party with us. Mattie loved all the action and Cam was such a good little boy.

Ty loved all the places to explore. :)

And the big kids loved the water balloon and water gun fight! I love this picture of our neighbor Matt getting Trevor right in the face, so fun!

And here is Leslie, Veronika and her two sisters. I know I've said this before but we're just so lucky to have moved into this wonderful neighborhood!

The block party takes place on a cul de sac in front of Michelle's house. She has a lot of pets and one of the kids suggested that people bring their pets and put them on the lawn like a petting zoo. After awhile, it was time for the pets to go back inside but the cages stayed up and we started putting the kids inside instead. :)

As if we hadn't had enough fun, our neighbors, the Douds, invited us down to their place for more fun. It was Veronika's birthday and someone left this for her on the lawn. I wonder if she ever figured out who did it. :)

The Douds have three children, Trevor, Andrew and their youngest, Addison. Here's Addi playing with our kids in their really cool sand box. Ty loves it and we so need one in our backyard!

Ty loves watermelon, he could sit all day and eat away on it. Here's a pic where he took a moment away from chewing to say cheese but I got his eyes closed. Such a cutie though.

And this is Anderson, from down the street. He was in Tatum's preschool class and Ty adores him. Here they are enjoying cream puffs together.

Chillin' in the pool.

The ladies. I missed this pictures since I was with Tatum in the bathroom, boo.

And all the kids besides Ty who couldn't be pulled away from the sand box. :)

And the B ball boys. :)

Some action shots of the pros.

Here's Tatum enjoying some lunch next to Addi. Such wonderful friends and great memories.
