Some good ol' fashion fun

Our neighbor Cookie has three granddaughters that live in Coronado.  Sometimes one of them will come visit their grandma and when they do, we hope to have some play time.  The other day Eliza came to visit and the three kids enjoyed some play time and popsicle time together. :)

Mattie and Jenny came down for a slumber party and we took the girls to a paint your pottery place.  They both picked unicorns and had a great time!

A random trip to Bernardo winery for live music and to burn off some energy. :)

So rare we can catch a family picture with these two...

as well as a picture with Grandma!

Oh these goof balls.  It's definitely a love hate relationship.  One minute they're fighting over something or someone is kicking the other, and then the next minute  I had Tatum get something for Ty and him say, "Thanks sissy, love you."  Aww, too cute.

A little tree climbing...

and kite flying!

We decided that the field at the winery is a bit small for kites, especially the cheap, plastic ones I bought.  Next time we'll bring a ball and save the kites for the beach.

But a wonderfully fun afternoon outing!
Tatum's class artwork was up on the walls of the Multipurpose room.  That's her camel at the top of the picture.  She's really starting to enjoy art and is getting pretty good.  Thanks so Arts Attack, a volunteer program where a mom comes into class and does an art project with the class twice a month.  So wonderful!

Free Tuesday at the Natural History Museum!

A few weeks ago, Ty and I decided to play hooky again and we headed to the Natural History Museum in Balboa Park.  Entrance is free on every first Tuesday of the month and Ty had been dying to see the dinosaur exhibit they have there.

I thought it might be a bit much for him to process but he loved it!  He enjoyed looking at all the pictures, touch the hands on items, and talk about all the fossils and different kinds of animals.

He loves snails so seeing this huge see snail amazed him!

They also had a bug exhibit with all kinds of beetles, snakes, etc.  Here was a mummy case with meal worms in it!  Ewww!

We were also lucky that Keira was able to join us.  Ty LOVES Keira, these two go together like peas and carrots. :)

Keira brought her classmate along and all three had a great time!

Then we headed to the play park for a picnic and some outside time.  It was a beautiful day!

And the kids loved throwing pennies into the big fountain.  Along with making funny faces of course.  Another perfect day of hookie! :)

Run or Dye!!!

A few of Tatum's Daisy troop girls and moms decided to sign up for the Run or Dye.  This is a run to raise money for local fundraisers and since there was a running badge we wanted to acquire, we thought Run or Dye would be a great way to earn that.  The girls decorated their own shirts for the occasion and on the morning of the run, we met at Joy's house, ready for some fun!

This is Ellie, Tatum, Kaitlin and Sarah.  We were meeting another troop member Sam at the race.  These silly girls are ready to run!

The race was held in the parking lot of our football stadium.

Here we all are, ready to get this show on the road!

The girls couldn't wait to get to the starting line!

The Run or Dye is about throwing dye packets around and coloring yourself while you run.  Everyone was dressed in white, whether it was the shirt they received for signing up, or an ingenious outfit they created.  Some were in white tutus and tube socks, some in white jumpsuits, etc.  So fun to see all the crazy outfits.

And before we even got past the finish line, we started getting hit with dye.  The dye was organic and safe so no harm in getting it all over everything.  We each received a packet of dye with our registration so a few people were pulling out their packets and spraying the crowd.  Here's Tatum and Kaitlin ready to run!

And Sarah and Ellie already looking colorful!

The girls loved throwing the dye on everyone, especially the moms. :)

Look at this excited face!

All our little hands ready to throw some more dye!

And it turned out that the line to get going was a much longer wait than we thought.  They only let a few hundred go at a time so that we didn't hit the color patches all at once.  So here's a face of a very impatient girl. :)

But thank goodness for loud music!  Here are the girls dancing it up!

And slowly but surely we crept towards the starting line...

and closer to these two djs who kept throwing out prizes and keeping the crowd pumped up.

And we're off!

And right out of the gates we were hit with pink dye!

This is just to show you how thick the dye would get when they would run and throw it at you!  You could barely see!

Here's after the first two color stations.  The girls loved it.

Here comes orange!

And after green we were all looking pretty colorful!

Here's Joy, Deborah and I enjoying all the fun.

Tatum throwing some dye at me! :)

Here comes yellow!

We were pretty late in the race so some of the volunteers had gone home and a lot of the dye was already on the ground.  No worries, the girls would just pick it up off the floor and cover themselves. :)

At the end of the race, every few minutes, you could stand in the color pit and on the count of three, everyone would throw their dye up in the air and get doused!  Looked fun but we were long from the finish line.

Look at how colorful Joy's cheek looks!

Splat!

Deborah and Kaitlin

Tatum and I.  This picture makes me want to get in the shower. :)

Look at this hair!

And here we are at the finish line!

Hurray!!!  We made it!!

What a fun day and memorable experience.

Here we all are, nice and colorful!

When we finally made it home and Tatum jumped in the bath, this is what her bathwater looked like!  I had to run fresh water three times!  We all loved the run and can't wait to do it again next year!
