The San Diego Zoo with Grandmas

We headed to the zoo to show both Grandmas one of our favorite places.  I think Tatum had a mission to get a photo with every statue in the place. :)

The petting zoo is always one of Ty's favorite stops.

And it's rare to see the animals really out in about.  We walked up to the bear exhibit right as they finished setting food out for them.  We loved watching two big bears walk around and find all the hidden food, such big creatures!  And Ty's favorite animal.

We also happened upon the dragon dance!

We hadn't been up to see the polar bear in a long time and they had a few new fun areas set up.  Like these large books where you could turn the pages,...

these refrigerators filled with what we eat compared to what a polar bear eats,...

and these little cave areas where you can pop your head up like a seal!  The kids loved this, I felt like I was at chuck e cheese and I needed a padded mallet to hit them when they popped up. :)

Then we caught the polar bear feeding, Ty loved that.

And he was shocked to see a helicopter that he could climb in!

As we left the polar bear area, we ran into this guy, hugs all around!

Then we headed to the Elephant Odyssey where the lions were taking a snooze. :)
Tatum on more statues...

I had no idea the zoo had so many statues!  Anyway, it was a very hot day so after a stop at the frozen yogurt shop and we finished our walk through to the front, we said good bye to the zoo and can't wait to go back since we have season passes.

Wine Tasting in Escondido

Both our mom's have birthdays within days, July 23 and August 1.  So to treat the birthday girls, we went wine tasting in our own backyard.  We started at Cordiano Winery, delicious wine and a beautiful view.

Then we stopped at Altipiano Winery where we got there just in time for a tour. What a beautiful view!

Mom enjoying the ambiance.

Mother and son.

We were able to get right down in the vineyards and pick the grapes.

They were actually good grapes, but I'd rather the wine. :)
Then we headed indoors where they keep the wine barrels.  It was pretty hot that day, almost 90 degrees, so it was nice to get in out of the sun and enjoy more wine in the cool climate.

After one more winery stop and a drink down at a neighbor's house, we headed home and got silly with the kids.  What a fun day with wonderful family and delicious wine!

Coronado Beach day with Arizona family

The timing worked out perfectly.  Grandma Dini got in Friday night and our Arizona family (her husbands son and family) were staying downtown till Sunday so we headed down to the beach to hang with them.  It was a beautiful beach day.  Here's their youngest Emma playing with Tatum and Ty.

These three were so cute, working on a castle or tunnel, not sure but everyone was very focused and hard at work.

Garrett got in there too!

We had gone garage saleing earlier that morning and Tatum got these funny glasses, she loves them!

And then Grandma Dini got in there to help too!
The big kids, Vanessa...

and Ian were doing some boggie boarding and did awesome!

Riding in the waves!

Then the kids were getting in.  It was pretty cold and I was surprised Ty got in there since he's not a big fan of the water.

But he loved it, running in it, chasing and running from the waves, it was cute.

They did a lot of jumping over the waves.
Bryan and Thithi had a sweet set up with all the amenities.

And Ty loved showing his surfing skills...

Then Ty and Vanessa settled down for some snack and a deep talk. :)

Goofing off with Daddy

Sand angel!

We packed up, tried to brush the sand off and change clothes, and headed to the landing for dinner.  There was a bubble guy there and the kids loved watching him make these huge bubbles!

W got some great family shots with the beautiful San Diego sky line behind us and a bit of the pink sunset.

And Grandma Dini and her grandkids

The McWilliams Family
At dinner, Tatum wanted to sit next to Emma and look at these girls.  They're both coloring with their hands the same way, both leftys, so cute!

After dinner, we headed to Cold Stone for dessert and were surprised by a fire works show above downtown, maybe at the Padres stadium.  Such a pleasant surprise!  And a great way to end the day with our family.
