Our Harley

Sunday morning while we were still camping in Carlsbad, my mom called to say Harley hadn't gotten up to go out yet and it was already 9 am.  I had her put me on speaker and walk out the back door, so I could call him and hope that my voice would coax him out.  But no, he wouldn't budge.  Then Mom noticed he'd gone potty on the floor and we knew something was very wrong.  Garret, the kids and I packed up camp as quick as we could and rushed home.  When we walked out to see Harley, I knew it was time for us to say goodbye to him and put him down.  It was so hard and when I said this, Tatum knew what that meant and started crying.  Of course, it was a Sunday so I couldn't get anyone to come to the house and help us, so we got him on this tarp and into the back of the van.  We drove him down to the pet hospital and they crew there rushed a rolling table out to take him back and put an iv in his arm.  They rolled him into this room where we had time with him, said our goodbyes, hugged and kissed him over and over, and told him what a good boy he was.  It was truly the hardest day for all of us and we'll never forget out sweet Harley bear.  I've printed out tons of pictures from his 12 1/2 years that we'll put together in the scrapbook.  We also put together a shadow box that we'll hang on the wall and look at all the time.  We miss our baby bear but he's feeling a lot better now and we know he's playing with all his friends at the rainbow bridge.

I think the one who took it the hardest was Cali.  Harley and Cali would lay together all day, every day.  Wherever he was, she would curl up next to him and lick his fur and rub on him.  He was only 1 1/2 when we brought her home and she thought he was her new daddy. Cali was pretty depressed the first few days, I'd find her laying on his blankie.  Cali and I both would lay on the carpet in my bedroom where Harley would spend a lot of time, just because we could smell him there.  Oh, the first week was pretty rough.

Carlsbad camping

Our first camp spot in Carlsbad.  We've really gotten this whole camping thing down to a science.  Everyone takes a job and it doesn't take long before we have our home away from home all set up.

Today, since we were so close to Shauna, her and Sage came to visit!

Always love seeing our Shauna!

And catching the sunset!

The next day we had the whole day to ourselves so after breakfast, the kids took their bike and scooter and we walked and headed all the way back to the entrance to the park.  There's a store there where we had fun picking out a few things along with a selfie stick!

Had to try it out a few times.

Then we packed up a lunch and a few drinks and headed down the long stairway to the beach to set up camp.

We really enjoyed our new stick!

That evening Grandma came to check out the place and had dinner with us!

Still enjoying the stick along with the sunset!

At the camp store we bought these things you throw in the fire to make it turn colors, pretty cool!

The next day both kids had games and after those, we came back to camp with Ellie and Tamara.  They'd never been to a camp ground!

We enjoyed the beach and more drinks and Ellie and Tamara stayed for dinner, so much fun.  We'll definitely be back to camp at Carlsbad again!

Wonderful people and wonderful experiences

It's Ms. Lawson!  No, it's Mrs. Freisen!  No, it's Rebecca!  Ha, this is both Tatum and Ty's preschool teacher and she is a lot of different names to us, but one pretty sweet, amazing lady.  She came out to one of Tatum and Ellie's games to cheer them on and it was so nice to see her and have some time to catch up.  We miss the North City Preschool team!

Ty got his first bee sting while rolling down the hill with friends at the park.  It was a little red mark which he described as a prick from a "prickly plant in the field".  I was pretty sure it was a sting but he wouldn't hear it.  The next morning, he woke up with a swollen hand and it just got worse and worse.  He couldn't play at his tball game that morning, he couldn't get his hand in the mitt.  It lasted for a few days and the Benedryl we gave him didn't seem to make a difference.  Thankfully, in a few days, the swelling went away and all was well, but I guess we better stay away from bees.  I've heard it gets worse and worse every sting!

Garrett and a work friend took the kids to their first laser tag experience!  They loved it and they can't wait to go again.  I've never been!  I'm totally in on the next trip. :)  Look at this serious face!

Happy Birthday to our favorite GM!  Shauna was heading out of town for her birthday, so we surprised her with a little birthday party at our house!

We decorated with streamers and balloons and enjoyed ice cream cup cakes!

And noise makers!

This is what Ty and I do a lot while Sissy is still at school.  We love to play go fish!  He's pretty good and its great practice with numbers!

This day he said we also had to get out and run to this bush and back, like running club at school.  We made it 8 times there and back!  I was pooped!
