Havasu!!!

Our friends the Miller's asked us to share a house with them in Havasu and we jumped at the chance.  Garrett and I both love Havasu but haven't been in years.  Before kids when life was about drink, fishing and having fun. :)  This was a different kind of trip to Havasu but just as if not more fun and exciting.  We arrived on Thursday, unpacked the car and Tatum and Ty got right to work on a game of checkers.

Jeff and Laura arrived with their two daughters, Sierra, almost 5 years old, and Kylie, almost 2.  The house was awesome!  It had 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a large living room with pool table and these cool spiny chairs that the kids couldn't get enough of.

Here's Sierra enjoying her turn!

After dinner, we jumped on the Miller's boat and took a spin around the lake and over to the canals in Havasu.  Our house was over on the opposite side of the lake from the town so it was nice and quite over there.

The kids LOVED the boat!  And a ride in the dark!

The next day we took the boat over to a little island where the kids could play in the dirt and water while we enjoyed music, Frisbee and drinks.

The boys and the boat.

So attractive guys. :)

Kylie was the sweetest girl enjoying her water and Cheetos.

Enjoying some much needed family relaxing time.  The weather was awesome, not too hot and not too cold.  Perfect!

We took a walk around the island...

and Garrett taught the kids how to do an army crawl. :)

After a long and fun day on the boat, we headed home for some corn shucking.

These two are hilarious and we loved hanging with them.  So easy going, so funny, a great weekend.

The next morning the kids were out at the boat and ready for some more fun.  They couldn't wait!

We went back to our island, bringing a few more toys with us this time.

I think these two were splashing each other.  Ty's favorite part of the trip was getting to pee anywhere he wanted to.  Numerous times we'd turn around and he'd have his pants down, takin' a pee.  I guess that's what you can do when you're out on an island with no one in sight! :)

Tatum and Daddy enjoyed some Frisbee.  Tatum got pretty good at her throw.

And Jeff enjoyed surveying the situation. :)

And this sweet little one enjoyed playing in the mud with sand toys and being such a good girl the whole trip.

Is this a spa?  Is she getting a mud bath? :)

Somebody is.

After leaving the island, we rode over to Pirate Cove.  Jeff was going really fast which was super fun but when we slowed down, everyone had a crazy hair do.  Love the wave Ty!

And look at Kylie, no need for hair spray! :)

Pirate Cove is this cool place where you can stay in cabins, pull your boat in and enjoy zip lining, or just stop and eat at the Pirate Cove restaurant.  There were lots of boats and lots of people here.

My babies.  They each got these cool pirate hats at the restaurant.  Ty's favorite part at the restaurant was the wooden pirate statues.  They had a pirate girl statue that had some large breasts popping out the top of her shirt, and when we walked by, he stopped dead in his tracks, pointed with his mouth gaped open and said, "boobs!".  A guy was standing near and said, "Did he just say what I think he said?!" laughing, it was pretty funny.  Too bad Ty wasn't talking about her boots. :)

On the way back from Pirate Cove, we stopped in another area and Tatum pushed Jeff off the boat.  She'd loved that and still talks about it. :)

In went Daddy!

Ty said he wasn't going in, just happy to check out the large mountains around us.

And no matter how cold the water was, Tatum jumped in too!  I was so proud of her.  We absolutely loved this trip and loved the Miller's.  We pinkie swore that we'll be back next year, can't wait!

Amber's Bridal Shower

Tatum, Grandma and I were invited up to Arcadia for Amber's bridal shower.  The wedding party did an amazing job and everything was beautiful!  Especially this wood sign Shauna made to greet the guests.

Tatum was the only kid and she did an awesome job of being one of the big girls.  She just LOVES the Beastons!  Can you tell?  Here she is with Toni.

It was a chance for us to get some nice clothes on so here we are all dressed up. :)

And the Bride-to-be looked amazing as well!

The girls put on some fun games and we had lots of laughs.

Here's Tatum with her wonderful GM and her big bag of candy she packed from the candy jars.

Present time!

And the beautiful bridal party.  It was only a month to go till the big day!

Yeeehawwww! The Poway Rodeo

This was our second year at the Poway Rodeo and the first year we brought the kids.  We have a few weeks here in town where we celebrate Poway Days.  We have a parade down main street and a street fair.  And then towards the end of the two weeks is the rodeo, where they have lots of booths selling cowboy hats, country western inspired decorations and knick knacks.  And then there's the face painting booth.  Tatum couldn't wait to get in there!

Look at that painted face!  She also couldn't wait to get a smoothie!

After we had some pizza and hot dogs, and checked out all the booths, the kids took turns riding and roping the bull.  This was before we saw the show so they really had no idea what the bull or the rope was for.  They were in for a bit of a surprise. :)

Cowgirl Joy and her chillens. :)

The show started and as soon as the horses came out, Ty was mesmerized.  He likes horses, but from far away.  When the bucking broncos came out, I asked Ty if he'd like to ride a horse, and he said, "Oh no, I don't want any of that flappity flappin!" referring to the way the men were flapping around on the bucking horses.  It was hilarious!

I think this is their manly grrr faces. :)

Tatum loved seeing all the horses and the pretty cowgirls on a few of them.  They would have the princesses come riding out to show different company signs, as advertisement, and Tatum thought they were so pretty and lucky.  Maybe we'll have to get her some horse riding lessons.

Enjoying the show with Grandma.

And Mommy.

My buddy.  Ty experienced another first when he went with Daddy to the portapotty to pee.  Shortly after they returned from their bathroom trip, Ty said he had to go poop.  I said I'd take him but when he realized he'd have to go back to the portapotties, he said he'd hold it, and he did. :)

Ty was quite impressed with all the action, from the calf roping to the little kids riding sheep.  I don't know as he'd say he liked it or would want to go again, but it sure kept his attention till 9:30 at night.
