Isaac's first visit to SD

Leanne brought Isaac down to San Diego for a vacation while her husband Chris was away on a business trip. We had so much fun just hanging around...

Isaac showed us how at only 5 weeks, he has muscles to flex...

We exchanged jokes, he had a few good ones!...

And Tatum got out her Papasan chair to share with Isaac and even demonstrated how it should be used.

Tatum was a wonderful "big sis" to baby Isaac, always watching him and making sure he had his paci. She loved helping with diaper changes by getting the wipes (or pulling them out) and throwing away the dirty diapers (with help from mommy). She loved having a real baby in the house and since he's left has continually asked about Isaac. "Baby all gone" she says and looks sad. I guess Baby Isaac will just have to come back to visit again soon!

Wrong turn

Last week I was sitting at my computer in our front room at 6:45 am, catching up on some emailing, when a woman peered in my window claiming she needed some help. It scared me and I was a little skeptical, what kind of help could she need at this hour in the morning? When I opened my front door, she started in on a story about how she'd been trying to get somewhere last night, following her friends directions to take a small street, but got stuck. At first I wasn't clear on how this related to me or her need for help until she pointed to the side of my house. And that is when I saw her car...
She claimed she thought my front yard was a driveway and drove right in between my house and the neighbors, narrowly missing the house and our side stairwell. Luckily, her car bottomed out and with the front wheels hanging over the side, she sat like that all night. Had she continued down the hill she would have ended up in our backyard or better yet, in the pond behind our house! This was some sight, at any hour of the day, and when I ran down to tell Garrett, he couldn't believe me till he saw it with his own eyes. He asked the woman, "Drink much last night?!" and she claimed she didn't drink, hmmm. Lucky for her, Garrett owns a large truck and was able to pull her out. But as he hooked up her car to his, he noticed her passenger side was smashed in. He asked what had happened and she claimed someone hit her at the 7/11. In fear that she could have been in a hit and run, I called it in to the police. As she drove away she said, "God bless!" which really topped off the strange experience.

Cabrillo National Monument

Today we decided to head out to the Cabrillo National Monument but on the way we stopped at my dad's grave site to show Tatum. We told her that's where her Papa Tatom is and she kept tapping the stone face and saying Papa. We went out on a great day, the view from his grave sight overlooking the ocean was beautiful.
Then we headed to the monument where we learned about Cabrillo and his discoveries...

We also went up in this light house and saw how the light house keeper and his family lived back in the 1700s.
And for lunch we took our cooler down to the tide pools, what a wonderful view!
Even Baby made it down to the ocean. :)

And they're off!

Since my husband had a weekend away, it was my turn for some time off. My mom, Jane and Barbara came down and what better place to burn off some steam than the track where you can lose money all day and leave feeling satisfied. Look at the great table we had, right on the track! Unfortunately, when you sit this close you can see everything and the 2 horse in the third race broke his leg right in front of us, poor guy. And we all lost money but had a wonderful meal and two bottles of wine to sooth our sorrows.

Summer concert

I headed up to Irvine once again to hang with my mommy friends since my husband (and Jenny's) took off for a weekend of male bonding in Vegas. We decided to go to a free concert at the Woodbridge lake with the Allday family and we all had a great time. Jenny and I dressed as twins for the evening, who says Twin Day is just for junior high?!
And our new friend Isaac came too, this was the high light of the night for Tatum. You can see her mouthing "Baby", one of her favorite things.
The Mommy's
And here's a little game we like to call "Who stole Lee's phone?". At the moment, you can see that Tatum has it and Mattie's hot on her tail...
And here's Tatum still thinking the race is on but Mattie has just noticed there's a large lake next to the park and she's going in... :)

Concert on the beach

Shauna invited us up to Hermosa for a concert on the beach. Check out the crowd!
As you can see, Tatum had no trouble getting into the groove of the reggae music.
Shauna's family came down to join us, such a wonderful group of people!
And after some coaxing, we got Tatum to put her feet in the ocean.
Look at these adorable prints, so cute!

Beautiful Isaac

Tatum's newest friend, Isaac James Taylor, arrived last week at 3:21 am on July 25th weighing 7.13 lbs and 20 inches.
Isn't he a beautiful baby?!
Shauna came down and we took the Taylor's dinner on Friday night and Tatum was very interested in this new bundle of joy.
Look at those feet!
