Fun with Grandma Dini

It was Grandma Dini's birthday while she was here to visit so for some fun, Tatum, Ty and I took her down to the Del Mar beach for lunch.  We love this park they have right on the water.

I love that you can swing while enjoying the ocean view!
We grabbed a table from a family as they were leaving and they gave us some donuts, Ty loved that!
We enjoyed a picnic lunch and then headed down to the water...

Ty was in mid potty training here so after he got his shorts wet, he played in his pull up. :)

The trains go right by the park there so while we washed our feet off to get ready to go, a train came by!

The next day, after a bath, each kid got a hair cut.  We're so lucky Grandma Dini's a beautician!

Then we headed to Chuck e Cheese!  We've actually only been once before and I'm not a huge fan so normally we probably wouldn't have gone back.  But on their web site, they have charts that you can use to help motivate kids to accomplish a task.  Ty had the potty chart and Tatum had the clean your room chart.  They both got a sticker for good room cleaning and going potty every day for 2 weeks!  So they brought in the filled chart and were given 10 tokens each for free!  Oh the fun!

And as they ran around, having the time of their life, the adults enjoyed some wine. :)

The next day, we headed down to the harbor to see the Midway, a large aircraft carrier.

A beautiful view from the flight deck!

And the kids enjoyed the way the flight deck engineers communicated with the flight tower and planes.
"Santa, can you bring me a large plane for my backyard?" :)

The kids loved climbing into the planes and playing pilot.

The shark plane was biting Tatum. :)

They also enjoyed inside the aircraft carrier, playing captain and crew...

Since Garrett was with us and had five years experience living on a ship, he let the kids know that this was close to the kind of bed he use to sleep in.  They thought it was so cool that he got to sleep in THREE bunk beds! :)

They had these meeting rooms with labeled seats, I love this one, the "bull".  That would be my seat for sure.

Tatum liked the Admin chair.  We all really enjoyed the tour and were impressed with the ship, great activity!

Another day, we headed down to Paradise Point, a beautiful hotel in Pacific Beach, where we enjoyed feeding the ducks.

They also have a tall tower you can climb and look out over the Mission Bay and the ocean.

We also had to stop by the Barefoot bar for some yummy apps and fun drinks.

My mom met us at the restaurant along with Mari Page and her husband Bob.  They took Grandma Dini down to Balboa Park to the sculpture shop where Mari sells some of her sculptures.

They had other artwork as well, like this lamp made out of slides, I love it!  I'm so making this!  My dad left me tons of slides he took while on his many travels so what better way to utilize them but this!  Well, better than throwing them away I guess.
The night before Grandma Dini left, we went to a Jimmy Buffet cover band concert in the park, so fun!

Lots of eating and drinking,
bubble blowing,

and cartwheeling,

and dancing...

Such a fun concert and a wonderful visit with Grandma Dini!  We were sad to have to say goodbye but thank goodness we get to see her as well as Papa Jerry in November.
