Trip to Dallas to see the Cowboys!

Garrett had been waiting for this for a long time.  He has loved the Cowboys since high school and now with their new stadium, Garrett couldn't wait to get out there to see it all!  I'd never been to Dallas either so we booked an adult only trip and had a blast!!  One of our main objectives: see the new stadium and watch a game.  And we did!

The parking was amazing!  Not a horrible, congested scene like Qualcomm!

And the tailgating gave a whole new meaning to tailgating.  These people had been here since 7 am and had set up shop like they were moving in!  Games, bbqs, even cars covered in Cowboys!

And then the field, a beautiful thing!

The stadium is a work of art!  It's huge and they have thought out every aspect!  From selling beer out of coolers as you walk in so you don't ever wait long for a beer, to making twice as many women's bathrooms so there's few lines there, they keep everyone happy.  Like this huge TV screen in the middle of the field where you aren't sure whether to watch the field or the screen!

Garrett was in heaven!

And the game started off with a touchdown with in the first few minutes!!!

And sitting around fans was a new thing for us, and it was so fun!  Everyone kept jumping up and giving high fives to everyone around, so great!  I wish the game had ended on a good note but we lost.  Enjoyed every minute though.

Later we went back to the stadium for a tour which was really cool.  The stadium is massive but the tour took us to places you wouldn't get to see if you were just going to see a game.  We went down to the field and Garrett was again, in heaven!

And we might have gone overboard with the photo ops but lots of fun!

The tour also took us through the hall the Cowboys run through and onto the field, as well as the press room.

Garrett even took his turn at the podium. :)

We were taken to the locker room for both the Cowboys and the cheerleaders.  Really cool.

And then way up in a press box.  Garrett made sure to save this phone number so he can call the press and talk about the game. :)

This is a well thought out, organized and beautiful building.  Great job Jerry. :)

But we didn't spend every minute in Dallas at the stadium, thank goodness.  We stopped at this authentic BBQ place where we stood in line for an hour enjoying drinks in mason jars to get some delicious grub.

Look at this spread!  And this is how it came, wrapped in the brown paper bag, with a loaf of bread.  Sooo good!

We also hit up the Dallas fair.  I stopped by the Daughters of the Revolution building...

and we couldn't miss a pic with the biggest cowboy!  We didn't hit any rides but enjoyed all the booths, beer, snacks, big trucks, lots of fun!

In Dallas, we found this cool area that shows these huge, metal longhorn steers running through a park.

We also went to the location of the shooting of JFK and went through the museum.

Very eye opening and emotional.

Everything is definitely big in Texas, and Dallas.  We had a blast and enjoyed some time away.
