Erica's girlie spa day and farewell BBQ

It pains me to even write this entry. My girlfriend Erica and I met in the college dorms our freshmen year and we've been together ever since. We've lived in too many apartments to count, had numerous roommates, funny experiences, gotten married, had kids, and lots of laughs over the last 16 years and we've been the best of friends through it all. Erica and her husband Matt moved to Guam a few years ago for three years but moved back to SD in 2006. We've been neighbors for the last 6 years and now they're being stationed in Guam again for another 3 years. The first time Erica moved, I had been living in Colorado, and we were use to being apart. Now that I've had her here in SD for 6 years and we've been together through our children's births, I think our bond is stronger than it ever has been and this move is much harder than the first. But life goes on so to accept the inevitable, some of Erica's close friends and I put together a fun spa day for her at the Rancho Bernardo Inn. It's a beautiful place and we enjoyed the warm February weather in our own private cabana at the pool.

What a beautiful day!

Enjoying some bonding time.

Here we all are. Lauren, Shauna, Liz, Amy, Erica, me and Erin. The robes never came off as it was a bit chilly but we enjoyed some delicious food and wine over lots of silly stories and laughs.

Erica thought the day was over when we left the spa but we had a surprise for her! Her mom and dad, my mom, and Matt and Jack were waiting at my house so we could all enjoy the rest of the evening together.

The cooks! They prepared a festive taco bar that we all enjoyed.

The kids LOVED the play time together. Even though there's an age gap, from 5 to 2, the kids always have a great time together. And who doesn't love bubbles!

Tatum did a great job of being the bubble girl.

Jack loved it!

Even Shauna and Lauren got in the fun!

After dinner, we enjoyed the beautiful cupcakes Erica's parents brought. Yum!

Such a sweet face!

After Erica and Matt leave for Guam, her parents are moving to Texas, to live close to their other daughter Kim and her family. We're not only losing one family but two! :(

Amy, Matt's sister, had just returned from a 6 month deployment in Spain so we were all very excited to see her and catch up!

Oh, saying good bye is such a hard thing to do. Erica and I just don't speak of it since it'll probably send us into tears. But I know they'll be back in just 3 years and even though that seems like such a long time to wait, it'll come quicker than I think. Plus, we already have plans to meet up with them in Hawaii so we have something to look forward to. Nothing will break up Sleezy and Ezzy. :)
