Camping at San Elijo

This is one of our families favorite things to do.  Beach camping!  Leanne and I went beach camping together with my parents for years.  We have so many wonderful memories of smores and hearing the ocean at night.  And it's so great that we can continue the memories with our families, together!

This was our first time camping at San Elijo and we got a spot right on the beach!  Well, we're at the far end and the beach is quite a drop below us, but this is as beach front as it gets!  While we unpacked and set up camp, the kids watched the sunset and goofed around.
Shauna came to join us for some dinner and wine and the beautiful sunset.  We love our GM!  I didn't get a picture of them but Grandma and Auntie Barbara came too!  They actually checked in to the spot before any of us and enjoyed some happy hour at the table over looking the ocean.  Auntie Barbara has been visiting our camp sites for longer than I can remember!

Here's the stairs down to the beach by our camp site.  The location was great, site 51.  We were close to showers and bathrooms and the weather was wonderful!  A little chilly at night but not too bad.

Ok, maybe it was pretty chilly in the morning.  This picture looks like we're at the snow instead of the beach. :)  This is one of our favorite parts.  Sneaking out for some morning coffee before the kids get up.

Usually that's impossible so we bring the dvd player and set them in front of a movie so we can get some much needed peace and quite for a few minutes. :)

The surf was up and the kids loved watching the surfers.  We even saw some seals out there!

Then we took a bike ride down the length of the campground to the other end.

Then we got in our suits and headed to the beach!

After a while, we needed to cool off so we went to the campground store for snow cones.

Yum!

I love the way they eat these. :)

Each of them picked a different combination of flavors and they all agreed they were the best snow cones ever!

Enjoying the view

There's nothing like a good, clean shower after a day at camp.
And Ruffles!

Enjoying another sunset with my bestie!

I love this man.  He's a wonderful fellow camper since he can do pretty much anything.  And he's sweet too. :)

Good bye sun!

After dinner, it was time to enjoy some roasted stuffed bananas!

Leanne brought lots of yummy things to put in our banana like mini chocolate chips, mini marshmallows and I think we had nuts too.  Tatum loves this part. :)

Patience kids. :)

Leanne and I enjoyed margaritas throughout the day in these fancy cups.  Like our nick names? :)

I can't remember what he was so excited about here but I love his facial expression and his hair!

Tatum bouncing Isaac on her knee. :)

Roasted bananas, yum!!!!  The whole camping weekend was a blast and we can't wait to go again this spring!
