On the fifth day of Christmas...

We went for our annual tree hunting! This is one of my favorite parts of Christmas. I love a real Christmas tree, everything about it. First off, you find the perfect lot for tree hunting. We started at Home Depot which has been our lot of choice the last few years. But after seeing the line to purchase a tree as well as the few remaining picked over trees, we decided to grab some dinner and then head across the street to a real tree lot. As everyone knows, good tree hunting takes lots of time and effort. Tatum got right to work and found a tree she liked.

Ty disagreed and found another. Oh, the choices. Noble Fir, Douglas Fir, Fraser Fir, oh my. I'm partial to a good ol' Noble but Garrett wanted to try something different this year, a Fraser Fir. It's a little bit thinner than a Noble but still has the same branches.

Tatum enjoyed taking some pictures. We might need to get her a tripod. :)

And then we all enjoyed running in and out of the trees.

Then, we finally settled on the perfect tree.

We headed home and it was time for the decorating. Since this was Ty's first year at decorating, he had a hard time understanding that when we hang the ornaments on the tree, they are going to stay there. He also learned the hard way that when you crack two ball ornaments together and one is not the unbreakable kind, you end up with a shattered ball ornament. No fun but no blood.

Tatum is a pro at ornament hanging and also, like her mommy, loves to talk about each ornament and go over what it is, where it came from and the story behind it.

Daddy would like to cut all the talking and just get the job done. He's the best at tree prep and light placement, always knowing just where to hang those lights and which one to replace when they all go out. :)

What a beautiful tree. Another fun tree hunting expedition behind us and now a house filled with the wonderful smell of Christmas. Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday as much as we are!
